I have nothing in my head except for Von Dutch by Charli XCX on repeat. It’s just too fun!!

Hm, what else.

Last week, I accompanied my friend at a wedding and was her plus one. I didn’t know anyone except her.

I followed my own advice for attending weddings as a vegan:

  1. Don’t expect to be accomodated (sad, sure, but happiness = expectation - reality).

  2. Eat beforehand.

  3. Focus on enjoying your social time and celebrating the couple.

My expectations were low. But the bride was SO kind, even to a stranger, and made sure I had vegan versions of every dish. And my food didn’t even look overtly vegan! I’m so used to being served food in these settings that looks obviously vegan, that obviously singles me out as a vegan, that starts conversations I’d rather not have. I was delighted!

Left: watermelon salad. Center: pasta pomodoro. Right: vegetable tart.
